About us

Built by tutors, for tutors and students

EquateIt started with a simple observation: the students who needed the best tutors had the least access to them. We're a small Melbourne team — VCE specialists who've been on both sides of the table — and we built the platform because we couldn't find one that actually solved the problem.

The founders

We tutor, we build, and we run the company. There's no gap between us and the product.

Brandon Collis

Co-founder & CEO

Brandon Collis

Brandon grew up in regional Victoria doing VCE Maths Methods and Specialist without access to professional tutors — so after graduating in Electrical Engineering from Monash University, he built the tools he wished had existed. He runs the tutoring company and builds the software. His angle: the student who earned it the hard way and then fixed the system that failed him.

Will Noonan

Co-founder

Will Noonan

Will graduated with a 99.65 ATAR — 45 in Mathematical Methods, 41 in Specialist Maths — and spent three years tutoring VCE students one-on-one before co-founding EquateIt. He is currently studying Computer Science at the University of Melbourne. The pattern he kept seeing in sessions: students had no real feedback loop. They didn't know which step cost them marks, so they couldn't fix it. He built EquateIt to give every student the same edge his tutoring gave them.

Ruchir Kajrolkar

Co-founder

Ruchir Kajrolkar

With a background in Data Science and years of tutoring experience, Ruchir brings analytical thinking and educational insight to EquateIt — using learning analytics to help students study smarter and tutors track what's actually working.

Why we built EquateIt

The best VCE tutors have always been concentrated in Melbourne's inner suburbs. Students in the outer ring, in regional Victoria, or in schools where individual attention is hard to come by had to make do with whatever they could find.

Brandon lived that firsthand. Will saw it from the other side — as a tutor watching capable students lose marks not from lack of effort but from lack of timely, specific feedback. Together they decided to build the thing that didn't exist: a tutoring service where every student gets a specialist in their exact subject, and where that specialist's work continues between sessions through a platform that actually marks their working.

EquateIt is the tool Brandon wished he'd had in Year 12, and the platform Will wishes he'd had to give his students at 11pm the night before a SAC.
